Mountain Mail: 10/23/19 VOLUME 1

Dear Parents,

The first trimester of this school year is going by so quickly. Much has happened since the last full Mountain Mail on this blog in September. Even though we have communicated it has been a long while since I posted photos and shared with you in this format.

We have seen the end of summer, rain kept us guessing on our BBQ day, the children went downtown during the climate march, we camped (twice!!) and lots of other good things.

There is indeed so much to share about future happenings too; now we head into a holiday season ripe with events and activities. But first lets get caught up on all the wonderful shenanigans that made Late September and October months to remember!

Mountain Mail Volume 2 will have photos of camping at Montana de Oro as well as upcoming dates….

On the news fronT

Louise departed last Saturday for England. She is spending a few days at home gathering her belongings and her marbles for her month’s sail across the Atlantic. Thankfully she’ll have a sturdier means of transportation than this one she had in Montana de Oro!!

Although Louise will not be able to contact us directly the expedition will be posting and the students will be tuning in and monitoring the crossing as well as any data provided. For those of you who would like to follow along too here are a couple of links. One to track the boat and another to read blog updates:

Also, Louise is still taking donations on her Go fund me page if you are interested in supporting:

Good food and good times

Deborah has been busy making sure we are well fed on our Tasty Tuesdays. She has had some great parents helpers and we thank them for adding sous chef to their resumes!

Deborah is also offering a Monday morning snack time. Recess has been resplendent with eggs, avocado toast, fruit, vegetables and many more delicious goodies. A couple of dollars ensures a nutritious and satisfying start to the week.

And finally on the food front. Thanks to all our Thursday parent chefs and providers for a wonderful array of equally delicious meals. For those of you yet to sign up please check the sign up genius sent by Lori Mellman.

Should you wish to “hire” Deborah to provide the food for you, here is a link with her menus and prices. I think she is a bargain, and you are assured of great food and no waste!!

Thank you!

How wonderful that there are always so many people to thank at TMS!! The problem is after a month of not blogging my aging memory is sure to miss so many of you that have contributed. Please know we are so grateful for all the wonderful people that make our school run smoothly and our hearts sing!

More recently in my memory bank:

Thanks to Steve Ackrich (Avery’s dad) for stepping and helping with Woodwork on Wednesday’s while Brooklyn has been away!.

Thanks to Jonathan Cake (Iggy’s dad) for his amazingly engaging Shakespeare class series! He has already really captured the children’s attention and I suspect will leave some serious love for the Bard in his wake.

Added to the roster this month is Susy Sulami (alumni parent of Talia, Noam, and Shira) who is leading a creative writing workshop and Dawn Geer who is offering yoga every Thursday (remind your children to come dressed appropriately). Lots of good things happening at TMS!!

Outdoor classrooms and outdoor parent fun!

Climate March

And finally, Spirit Day!
